Printed materials that come to life in the dark

Challenge

For the 47th edition of Kluger Hans, the print work was allowed to be just as whimsical as the illustrations themselves. The challenge: to create a publication where the design doesn’t stop at what you see at first glance, but continues to surprise even in the dark.

Our approach

The standout feature is the glow-in-the-dark ink on the cover. During the day, the printed elements blend into the design, while in the dark they glow, revealing an extra layer of the illustration.

The flaps on the cover also contribute to that experience. They extend the illustration and ensure that the design literally unfolds when you open the publication.

Result

A striking publication in which illustration, printing techniques, and finishing touches complement one another. The glow-in-the-dark details give the design a surprising second life in the dark, while the fold-outs further expand the visual world.
