Challenge

Choosing the right type of paper or finish isn’t just a matter of what you see. You also need to be able to feel the paper, because its structure, thickness, and texture all contribute to the look and feel of your printed materials.

The challenge: to bring together our various paper types, printing techniques, and finishes into a single, easy-to-navigate inspiration book that you can look at and feel.

Our approach

We opted for a hardcover inspiration book with a semi-Canadian binding. With this special binding method, the ring binder is largely hidden within the cover. This allows the book to lie flat and the pages to be turned all the way over.

The cover was given a striking fluorescent color and was mounted on cardboard. Sand laminate creates a unique texture, and a glossy spot UV coating adds extra depth. Together, they give the cover a sleek and luxurious look.

Inside, we’ve collected a variety of paper types, ranging from smooth to rough, from recycled paper to sturdy cardstock, and from bright white to warm white. We also cover various finishes, such as lamination, spot UV, foil stamping, and varnish. Thanks to the die-cut tabs, you can easily find each category.

Result

A well-organized inspiration book that brings the possibilities of print to life. Different paper types and finishes can easily be viewed side by side, compared, and—most importantly—felt.

This makes it much easier to make the right choices for your printed materials.
